Weekend Coffee: Blueberry Muffins

I wrap my hands around a nice warm pottery mug with steam carrying the fresh smell of coffee swirling around my nose. Yes, I just described pretty much any coffee commercial you see, but it is true. That warm mug and aroma does bring a smile to my face, just like in the commercials.

This morning I sit on my deck overlooking the field. The dewy calm of the early morning receding to make way for a beautiful spring day. After many days of clouds and rain, the sun is a welcome sight. All I need now is a muffin. A nice warm blueberry muffin to go with my perfect cup of coffee, would make this a pretty perfect moment.

But alas, no muffin for me (which saying that automatically makes me think of Seinfeld – No soup for you!) There isn’t a muffin guard keeping me from my chosen breakfast treat. It’s me.

If you have read my blog, you know I am a runner and a healthy eater who has fallen off the fitness wagon, a lot. For some reason I can’t seem to stay firmly seated, like I once was. I know all the benefits, I like healthier food, I feel better when I eat well and exercise, but when the wagon hits a bump, I fall out.

The consequence of my lack of ability to stay in the wagon has led to a few extra pounds. My main goal is not to be skinny, it is to be healthy, but I would be lying if I said the extra pounds did not bother me at all. So, I have committed myself to a healthy lifestyle (again).

Instead of the nice warm blueberry muffin, I ate a nice warm scrambled egg with avocado on toast. It was yummy. I hardly miss the muffin.

Until next time…

  3. Humph….I was eating chocolate while I read about your healthy eating plans. Oops! Winter hit with a vengeance today and it was 9 degrees celsius. Freezing for around here.
We’ve had Masterchef on here, which improves taste but not the fat content of my cooking!
Hope you have better luck with your healthy eating than I’m having.

  4. Your breakfast sounds good! I am generally a healthy eater but lately, I have fallen off the wagon too. It’s not like I eat fast food ever or drink soda but I’ve been indulging in way too many sweets. Mostly things like macaroons and ice cream. Sigh…..I just love them so much! 🙂

    1. It sounds like we are kindred spirits when it comes to food, Lisa. Ice cream is my absolute weakness, especially now that summer is knocking at the door. Darn, now I want ice cream.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Marisa, and having coffee with me! I took a peek at your blog. I love all your photos. I’ll be adding yours to the blogs I follow. Have a wonderful week!

  5. Egg, avocado, toast…sounds delicious! It’s past noon here and I haven’t eaten so it sounds especially delicious!

Thanks for the coffee share and we’ll see you next time.

  6. Avocado and toast sounds lovely! I’d take that over a muffin any day! Good luck with staying on the fitness wagon–it can certainly be difficult at times.

I want to hear from you!
